What an incredible weekend - for many of us it was an "extra extended lunch break" due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. You see weekends are merely "extended lunch breaks". By the time you do all need to do on Saturday... It's already Monday!!! Sunday is just a complete blur. Whatever you do - treat your weekends like gold. In this day and time treat all your days off, whenever they are, like gold. I wanna take you back for a brief moment in time with me. Close your eyes and think about the days of Junior High School or for some of you it was known as Middle School. Now, I will say, overall it was an adventurous experience full of pretty cool and fond memories. However, it was truly a rough time for me in terms of staying confident and believing in my whole self. Of course, with lots of studying I was able to maintain my grades and still graduate with 3.0 or higher G.P.A. but my emotional status - that's a total different story. This brilliant mighty force and campaign that exist today against bullying - oh how it was much needed back then too. From the time I was around three maybe four years old I developed a skin disorder known as eczema. It can be pretty pretty pretty bad. There were times that I had it just about all over my body including my hair, well on my scalp!!! But the flakes in my hair from the eczema looked like an awful case of dandruff. In Junior High this was not working - not at all. I was called every kind of scaly creepy ugly dusty crackling skinned reptile creature you could possibly imagine. There were days where I just wanted to stay inside - inside the house, inside the classroom, inside the counselors' office, inside the library, inside the girls restroom stall. I just wanted to stay inside!!! I remember how during the summer I'd still wear turtle necks, long sleeve shirts, jeans, long pants in general to hide this disgusting part of my life. The cold part is - it was on my face too. It would get really bad sometimes under my eyes, around my ears, and on my forehead. Just way too uncomfortable and totally not Junior High "appearance" appropriate!!! On many occasions I would just go in a corner of the campus and cry. And there many days I'd get home and go in the bathroom and just cry. Man. That part of my life was awful!!! Yet.............. Here's what I want you to know. Sometimes in life we go through these creepy stages either as young children, teenagers, young adults and yes, even as adults. For some of us, we've experience something pretty traumatic in every stage. What's important - is that I decided to channel all that negativity that was coming at me into my drive to continue to do well in school and although I was already a kind person -that experience- I allowed it to make me even kinder and even more compassionate towards those who were considered and treated as the "outcast". I challenge us all that no matter where we are in our lives that we allow ourselves to pursue and fulfill our destiny of #GREATERNESS!!! No matter what take the negativity and channel it into something positive, something grand, something that's full of life. And that's your "Up Close and Personal" Moment. Until we meet again... So, it's been quite rainy here in Southern California for the past two days. Truly beautiful. You know as long as I can remember I have been a fan of the rain. The smell of it, the sight of it, the sound of it, the versatility of it, the mere existence of it puts a big smile on my heart. After all, the intended benefits of the rain are beyond astounding. Today I'd like to share some "Rainy Day Sweetness" with you - just a few things to remember the next time it rains. As the rain pours out over the land let us pour out patience and kindness towards one another, As the rain drizzles over the dry vegetation let us drizzle compassion, understanding, and love over one another, As the rain falls by the waysides let us fall into the arms of those that will catch us, support us, and propel us into "greaterness", As the rain produces life in those once dried up places let us produce hope by speaking life, speaking victory, and speaking "I'm here for you" into one another, As the rain saturates the roads and hillsides let us saturate one another with justice, equality, and respect, As the rain creates pure freshness in the air let us create pure freshness in our minds, our bodies, our souls, our spirits, our homes, our families, our businesses and the services we provide, As the rain speaks to the earth and communicates it's purpose let us speak our testimonies and declare our breakthroughs as we exhibit our purpose, As the rain glides into the nooks and crannies of the ground let us glide in joy, peace and unity through this journey called life. And that's your "Rainy Day Sweetness" Until we meet again... Absolutely Amazing. Today I have a little something extra special for you. Do you remember the song "Hero" by Mariah Carey? YES. YES. YES. That's the one. In that song she speaks to the HERO that lies within each one of us!!! The lyrics remind us that when we take the time to truly dig deep within us we can pull out the greatest, the bestest, the most unique us - We Are Our Very Own Hero. So just in case you've forgotten for a brief moment or you've been way too busy or you just need a tiny reminder - YOU ARE A HERO!!! You are queens and kings that sit high on a dynasty of peace, joy, strength, endurance and faith!!! Enjoy this video and remember - YOU BELIEVE IN YOU, I BELIEVE IN YOU and GOD BELIEVES IN YOU!!! That's pretty good :0) Until we meet again...
