Here we are at the last Wednesday of March 2019… Absolutely amazing!!! The first quarter of the year already washed away yet there are three more to go. Three more in which we can soar to greater heights, reach the highest mountains, and pursue our next level of #GREATERNESS with unspeakable joy and unmatchable perseverance. Let’s go… Let’s refuel, let’s recharge, and let’s reboot our systems right here in Faith’s Garden of INspiration for “Weleful Wednesday”. It’s our favorite day of the week on any day of the week.
The question I want us all to answer is… “Do You Know Who You Are?” Wait, wait, wait… before you go spelling out your first and your last name, telling us who your grandparents are, how much land you own, how many albums you’ve sold, how many books you’ve read…. Please, please, please think about this for 31 seconds… Close both your eyes and really really really think about this - “Do You Know Who You Are?” Yes. You are rich. Yes. You’ve done a few great things. And yes you have experienced some horrific tragic things. Yes. You dropped out of school in 8th grade. But, “Do You Know Who You Are?” Yes. You left home at age 16. Yes. You were on drugs, laid up in an alley, disrespecting your life and the life of others. Yes. You made mistakes, you went the wrong way, and you took a left turn in a right turn only lane. Yes. You feel in love, feel out of love, lost all hope in just the thought of love. But, “Do You Know Who You Are?’ Yes. You sang out of tune, you tripped over the log at the family picnic, and you gained 45lbs in five years. But, “Do You Know Who You Are?” Yes. You went to the doctor and they told you that you only had six months to live. Yes. You lost focus, you lost your stride, you lost your way, you gave up on your dreams, and you joined the elite group on campus in hopes of finding a glimpse of who you thought people wanted you to be. But, “Do You Know Who You Are?” Yes. You were a single parent raising five children and you struggles along the way. Yes. Your parents died suddenly and unexpectedly. And yes, you landed the position of CEO, you received the “Community Service” Award from the state, and you were featured in Essence Magazine, interviewed on BET, and spoke at the graduation at Bennett College. But, “Do You Know Who You Are?” DO YOU KNOW THAT DESPITE THE CHALLENGES, THE DOWNFALLS, THE PITFALLS, THE SETBACKS, THE TORNADOES OF LIFE – THAT YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!! Here’s a toast to a new week, new opportunities, new drive, new actions, new experiences. A toast to a new song in our hearts, a new rhythm to every step we take, a new melody that hums determination into our souls. A toast to an organic serving of motivation, courage, and victory right here in Faith’s Garden of INspiration. Yes. It’s “Weleful Wednesday” – the best day of the week on any day of the week.
Just this week I did a clip on FB for my series 31 Seconds for 31 Days with TSWFAITH titled “Tie It Up”. I was getting dressed and I was tying the bow on my blouse and it hit me… We tie up our shoes, we tie a tie around our neck, we tie the ribbons in our hair, we tie the string around the logs, we zip tie the extra length on the cord, we tie up a stock of celery, we tie the sash on a dress… We Tie It Up. In my clip I reminded us all that we tie things up in an effort to secure them, to alleviate any extra from hanging or falling out, to bundle things up, to keep things together!!! So I posed a thought… If we tie these things up why not Tie Up our dreams, our visions, our goals, our mission, our purpose, our destiny. Tie It Up to secure it, to hold it together, to keep it in place. In this blog I’d like to pose that we Tie Up our thoughts and keep ‘em focused, that we Tie Up our tongues in the moment of anger, rage, or disappointment to prevent something from being said that may not be meant from the heart, that we Tie Up our biases and stereotypes and allow people to be people without judgement or hate, that we Tie Up all the horrific things that have taken place in our lives and store them in a locker that only opens when we need to draw strength, draw courage, draw wisdom from one of them, that we Tie Up pity, doubt, and low self-esteem and put a knot on it so it can never resurface, that we Tie Up our love around those who are in despair, remorse, depression, anxiety, aggression so they can know there is power in love, that we Tie Up our children, our parents, our loved ones, our friends, the stranger on the street with the fervent effectual prayers from the depths of our hearts.. Just this week I did a clip on Facebook for my series 31 Seconds for 31 Days with TSWFAITH titled “Addresses and Zip Codes”. In this clip I reminded us all that while many of us reside at the same address each of us have a different zip code. That’s right!!! Many of us are in one or many of these addresses such as entrepreneurs, mathematicians, doctors, therapists, lawyers, teachers, freedom fighters, scientists, chemists, pharmacists, artists, writers, musicians, disc jockeys, teachers, coaches, counselors, advisers, technology experts, web designers, drivers, boxers, officers, trainers, athletes, researchers, mechanics, engineers, architects, producers, chefs, bakers, barbers, hair stylists, pilots, choreographers, sociologists, meteorologists, librarians, historians, gymnasts, advocates, carpenters, fashion designers, dentists, environmentalists, health inspectors, accountants, judges, real estate brokers, construction, nurses, early childhood providers, firefighters, paramedics, apprentice, zoologists, botanists, etc. The best part about belonging to any of these groups is that we each have our own zip codes. That’s right… You see our zip codes are our uniqueness. It’s that aspect of “one of kindness” that separates us as individuals with our own special flare. It’s the something that no one can quite figure out yet it sets you apart and makes your name great. The best part is – there is so much beauty in our uniqueness that even though there may be many of us at the same address, not one of us is at the same address with the same zip code.
