The Clocks Rolled Back… Hooray for the “Extra” Hour

11/11/2020

An entire week later and there is still some debate about the accuracy of the votes thus some places are in the process of doing a recount. WOW. Despite it all you and I are able to gather here and recuperate in the most sacred #1 place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration. It’s the only garden blooming with the organic flavors of optimism, determination, and strength. After all it’s our favorite day of the week on any day of the week – “Weleful Wednesday”. Now let’s go get our boost!!!

So, you know me, as I pondered on the concept of the clocks rolling back and all the excitement of the “extra” hour of sleep we all got last Sunday, November 1st… It hit me. Everywhere I turned – on the t.v., on the radio, on the social media outlets, on the Internet, even in the stores – everyone was talking about the “extra” hour of sleep. And while the concept appears to be very exciting and possibly entertaining – It’s definitely empowering. You see here’s what I challenge us all to do – “Extra”!!! That’s right. With that “extra” hour let’s make the “extra” effort to spread a little “extra” love, share an “extra” compliment, be “extra” humble, practice “extra” kindness, use your voice of reasoning, your voice of wisdom, your voice of strength for the “extra” change that needs to be set in place for the good of us all, demonstrate “extra” respect, tap into “extra” patience, share an “extra” laugh, be present in the “extra” hard times and be the “extra” shoulder to lean on, stay “extra” vigilant about equality and justice for us all, perform the “extra” task to get the job done, show a little “extra” compassion towards those in need, those in bondage, and those who have been deemed by society as unfit, do a few “extra” sit ups, enjoy a few “extra” minutes on the treadmill, take a few “extra” deep breaths, take an “extra” minute to make that phone call, send that text or write that letter, be “extra” committed to daily improvement, say a few “extra” prayers, give God a few “extra” praises, spend some “extra” time studying the Word, and be “Extra” mindful that you have been created, designed, and birthed into this world to be the “Extra” beacon of hope, to be “Extra” victorious, and to be “Extra” grateful and thankful… Hooray for the Extra Hour!!!

Don’t be shy go ahead and tell us your thoughts on “Extra” and be sure to hit the “LIKE” button too.

Elections… Elections… Elections… The Vote Is In

11/4/2020

Absolutely incredible… The 1st Wednesday of November 2020 and the day after the elections. As we continue to wait patiently on the final outcome of the future of this country, for the next four years, we are yet able to stop by the most sacred #1 place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration.  It’s yet to be the only link to an all-natural organic serving of freshness with a robust mixture of wisdom, optimism, determination, confidence, and compassion. That’s right – all that on the best day of the week on any day of the week – “Weleful Wednesday”. Now go get your boost!!!

While many of us had been waiting for this election since 2016 – some of us became more and more interested and more and more determined to cast our votes this time around. This campaign coupled with the events of this year has definitely ruffled some feathers and caused some birds to leave their nest while others have remained determined to stay right where they are – bad, good, or indifferent. Nonetheless it will definitely go down as an election to remember. So, you know me, as I pondered on this election and the millions upon millions of votes that have been cast to support the next leader of this country… It hit me. It was Election Day and while we cast our votes, submitted our ballots, stated our interests… or not…. I say that in all this we continue to remember to Elect Ourselves… Elect Ourselves to Be the BEST US WE CAN BE. Elect Ourselves to Be the Pillars of Strength, the Walls of Courage, and the Foundation of Faith, Love, and Peace. Elect Ourselves to Be Vigilant about Pursuing What’s Right for All Mankind. Elect Ourselves to Always Use Our Voices to Speak Unity, To Declare Respect, and to Shout Out Gentleness into the atmosphere. Elect Ourselves to remain in high pursuit of our next level of #GREATERNESS with great zeal and tenacity. Elect Ourselves to Illustrate to the World that no matter what goes on WE YET REMAIN the Beacons of Light and we keep our votes a “YES” on being the positive change agents we have been created and deigned to be. So, in our book… each day is election day - Let's Elect the BBBEEESSSTTT for Ourselves - mind, body, soul, and spirit.

And for my brothers and sisters in Christ - let's continue to Elect Ourselves to walk worthy of the vocation in which we have been called. Elect Ourselves to Fast and Pray as we seek to remain obedient to the Will of God. Elect Ourselves to keep the devil under our feet and use the Power God has so graciously endowed us with to heal the sick,  to proclaim the Gospel, to comfort those that mourn, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to those in captivity, and to remain a peculiar generation.

Go ahead and share your thoughts on “Elections” and be sure to hit the “LIKE” button.

Don’t Get It Twisted… Please Don’t

10/28/2020

My… My… My… Can you believe it’s the last Wednesday of October 2020? When I tell you the time is not playing, that it does not care about what we need to do nor is it mindful that we actually need more time in a day to get everything done… Please believe me. Nevertheless here we are in the #1 most sacred place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration. Our escape into an ocean of optimism, perseverance, and strength. That’s right – It’s our “Weleful Wednesday” boost.

Last week I did a clip on my FB page titled… “Don’t Get It Twisted” and in this blog I am ready to expand and explode on this topic in a berry berry berry powerful way. So hold on to your seats and don’t blink an eye; well, at least not for the next few minutes. You see on this journey called LIFE there are gonna be moments when you have to speak it into the atmosphere… I mean decree and declare that you are more than a conqueror, greater than the heavy weight champion of the world, better than the all star player of the year. You must say it out loud –scream it… yell it- into the atmosphere – “Don’t Get It Twisted!!!”  When those moments of frustration, anger, bitterness, sadness, and/or hurt begin to even try to rise up inside of you – tell yourself “Not Today… Don’t Get It Twisted… I Got This!!!”

When those moments of isolation, defeat, loneliness, worthlessness, and/or self-pity even try to put you in a dark cold place behind some steel platted door of uncertainty say it out loud “Not Today… Don’t Get It Twisted… I Got This!!!” When the barriers of “I’m sorry we just hired the last person for today” or “Oh we just ran out of food baskets five people before you” or “Your insurance policy expired over a month ago due to insufficient funds” shout it out into the atmosphere with boldness, with strength, with tenacity, with courage and with Faith… “DON’T GET IT TWISTED – PLEASE DON’T!!!”

When the world is crashing, falling apart, and/or coming unglued all at the same time at the thread of its unraveling lies of hatred, racial tension, financial inequalities, educational deficiencies to those deemed unfit, and/or unworthy – Jump up and say it “Not Today… Don’t Get It Twisted… I Got This!!!”

When the four chairs won’t turn, when the timer runs out before you give your answer, when the judges ask you to remove your mask because you’re not moving on to the next part of the competition… When death comes like a thief in the night and one of your loved ones is no longer here, when the neighborhood tragedy caused the community center to be closed down and now you have nowhere to feel safe, when the street lights come on yet your path appears stale and dim… When the unemployment benefits run out, when the retirement fund reads “zero” and it’s actually retired, when the credit card statements reflect balances that you can’t even see how to meet the minimum payment on just one – Skip across the living room and in your big outdoor voice d.m. the atmosphere “Not Today… Don’t Get It Twisted… I Got This!!!”

When negativity attempts to rip your soul into grains of sand and permanently destroy your spirit… When that other voice is attempting to convince you to “Go ahead and jump, shoot the gun, take the bullet, inject that poison into your vein – no one will even notice you’re gone” – Run across the floor, pump your chest out, and hold your head high while you boldly regain control and tell the world – “DON’T and I MEAN DON’T GET IT TWISTED… PLEASE DON’T!!!”  You see you can say this because you know that without a shadow of a doubt YOU ARE VICTORIOUS. And for my brothers and sisters in Christ – we know we’ve been dipped, washed, and sealed by the blood of the Lamb–Jesus.

The Power of the Charge…

10/21/2020

Yes… Yes… Yes… Here we are in the #1 most sacred place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration. We are all beyond blessed to receive this nutritious organic serving of fresh perspective, optimistic evaluation, and authentic insight. After all it’s the best day of the week on any day of the week – “Weleful Wednesday”. Now let’s go get our boost.

Just the other night this car commercial really captured my attention… As the voice over richly described the perks of the vehicle it remained in its designated spot while it charged. Yes. It was a 2021 fancy modeled hybrid. As the voice continued to provide the unique details and all the exquisite features you could see and hear the car revving up – looking and sounding like it was ready to take on the road-yet it remained in place until it received all the charge it needed. Exactly… Just like that it hit me. We all have to be charged up every once in a while and depending on the distance we go, some of us need longer and stronger charges. You see these charges come from adequate rest, eating healthy – at least as healthy as possible, moderate regular exercise, routine self-care (i.e. meditation, massages, etc.), positive productive hobbies, journaling, etc. While it may sound routine – WE’VE GOTTA DO BETTER AT FULLY CHARGING UP!!! Think about it for just one moment if the car doesn’t fully charge – guess what? It definitely won’t go the distance it’s designed to go. Same with us!!! No matter how awesome, how magnificent, how extraordinary we are, we are never exempt from the POWER of the CHARGE.

And for my brothers and sisters in Christ we get the most supernatural divine charge from our relationship with God, our proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our willingness to adhere to the Holy Spirit. It really is the ultimate charge!!!

Now be sure to share your thoughts about the “POWER of the CHARGE” in comment section below and be sure to hit the “LIKE” button too.

The Great Shake Out…

10/14/2020

While this time of year should be offering us a fresh feel of winter… here in Los Angeles it has been right at 90 in some areas and up to 100 or more in others – yet it is October. Go figure. Nevertheless here we are in the healthiest most sacred #1 place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration. It is time for us to absorb our organic serving of insight, wisdom, and strength. And of course as the side dishes we have optimism, perspective, and positive vibes. That’s right – all that in our “Weleful Wednesday” boost.

So we all know that every year on the third Thursday of October, at least here in California, we have the Great ShakeOut in an effort to remind us all about the importance of being earthquake ready. Sometimes it’s more than a reminder because for many it just may serve as a critical wake-up call about how unprepared they may actually be in the event a devastating earthquake should occur. Some of us have personally witnessed firsthand the damages, the tragedies, and the losses that an earthquake can cause thus we make a diligent effort to be as ready as possible at all times. In this ShakeOut for 2020 I know I personally said to myself… “Wow. I actually need to include facemasks, wipes, more gloves, and hand sanitizer in my Earthquake Kit.” Never would I have imagined that. I also took a mental note of how COVID 19 has changed the dynamics in how many of us we will participate in the ShakeOut – Virtually. That… I definitely never would have imagined. On an even more symbolic level I’ve been pondering on the Great ShakeOuts that many of us must endure in our personal quests as we travel along this journey called LIFE.

That’s right… some of us have experienced a variety of quakes on various magnitudes in our lives from our childhoods to our teenage years and even throughout our adult lives. Maybe there’s been minimal to no impact for a few of us however the earthquakes some of us have gone through – it’s actually nothing but a miracle from God that we are still here and here on purpose with the purpose to be a genuine unique powerful part of the divine purpose – definitely a miracle. For some of us it has been the loss of those we love or the loss of a friendship or the inability to connect in person with those we love because of a recent relocation or even because of COVID 19. For others it has been tragic accidents, loss of employment, relationship sorrows, financial hardships, emotional burdens, etc. And for some it may have even been the experiences of abuse and/or neglect on multiple levels in multiple ways. And for others it may have been the numerous rejections, the countless moments of being bullied, ridiculed, and taunted.

These earthquakes have pierced many of us in ways that have been documented through novels, through short-films, through memoirs, etc. And while many presented themselves in such a way that it appeared there would be no comeback we have yet prevailed and we are now able to prepare, to apply our lessons learned, and to become the BEST version of ourselves that we can be. We now load our emergency kits with the supplies that have no expiration dates i.e. greater joy, greater peace, greater humility, greater determination, greater courage, greater wisdom, greater knowledge, greater understanding, greater patience, greater confidence, greater will power, greater respect for ourselves and others, greater mindset, greater outlook, greater hindsight, insight, and foresight, and greater faith. So you see, when we have these Great ShakeOuts in our lives, overall, we are better equipped and ready to regain our stride on the tracks of life.

Now be sure to share your experiences about your “ShakeOut” moments in the comment section below and remember to hit the “LIKE” button too.

The Power of Her Presence… Sista… Sista… Sista

10/7/2020

Who would have ever imagined that the time would go by this fast? It seems like it was just January and now here we are in October. One thing is for sure this chapter in history, this year 2020, has taught some of us, reminded some of us, and reiterated to many of us the power of genuine unfiltered and unconditional love. That’s right it’s time for us to marinate in our “Weleful Wednesday” boost – the best day of the week on any day of the week. Remember… it is the most sacred #1 place on the web today. The only garden loaded with a fresh perspective, organic outlook, and invaluable insight.

Over ten years ago I wrote a short piece titled “Sista”. At the time it was very personal because it was about my own sister yet over the years I came to realize it could be about anybody’s sister – biological or not. You see sometimes on this journey called LIFE we all acquire sisters in various seasons of our lives. Some sisters we even adopt for the long haul – those that are there through thick and thin, in the trenches of the challenges, the barriers, and the potential setbacks as well as on the seas of the sweet victories over time. Enjoy this piece and if you haven’t done so lately… call, text, write, email, duo your “Sista(s)” and let her know how much you appreciate, adore, love, respect, and support her.

“Sista”

Not knowing what “sista” really means could even be worse
but havin’ a sista, even just one sista
not quite understanding da fact that you’d be first
takin time to dress, washin hair, wiping da tears
and sometimes just watchin sista make a total mess
laughin ‘til your cheeks turn red
walkin to the store on the coldest of nights
just ain’t nothin’ like watchin a sista grow out of her “baby” sista bed
yes times can get rough
just not knowing what sista might do but all the while sista gets wise and sista gets tough
all that holding, protecting, and comforting along the way
just to see what baby sista decides to do
riding her bike on the boardwalk of choices and decisions and playing the games of success with pure grit and grind and
then BAM one day she’s in da kitchen cookin’ with ole school shortening and ain’t paying negativity absolutely no mind
yep I must say a sista is truly a friend, an ear to listen, and a loving hand to hold in da end
Oh... I’m so berry glad I have my sista

The Debate… The Greatest Debate

9/30/2020

Hello and Welcome to the last Blog of September 2020 in Faith’s Garden of INspiration. The #1 most sacred place on the web today. The only venue that serves up the most nutritious organic healthy meals loaded with motivation, determination, optimism, strength, and divine opportunities for personal growth. That’s right… It’s our “Weleful Wednesday” boost - the best day of the week on any day of the week.

So, I had another topic planned for our Blog today however as the week drew near and the day grew closer to existence – my entire body, mind, soul, and spirit felt the need to discuss the debate. Now, I will give credit to the validity of the debate between the presidential candidates and the significance this election will have on the very fiber of this country. However, for the purpose of this Blog we will take a more practical and personal yet powerful dive into the “The Greatest Debate” – the debate we all deal with on a daily basis – to live or to live and thrive!!! I never would have imagined as a child that we would face the times we are currently in - I mean the world is in a pandemic on multiple levels, in multiple arenas, in multiple ways. We are facing some of the most atrocious events of this decade – the weather has gone crazy, the people have gone crazy, and our political system has gone even crazier.  And yet here we are in “The Greatest Debate – To Live or To Live and Thrive”.

You see, for us here in the garden we have purposed our daily actions towards living and thriving. We have decided that it is no longer enough to just live. We have set forth a standard within ourselves that propels us into our next level of #GREATERNESS no matter what. I know that we face challenges, that we experience frustration, and that we have barriers that come up against us BUT WE REFUSE TO BE ANYTHING LESS THAN VICTORIOUS!!! We have owned our power and we have marinated in our skillsets – in our innate God-given abilities to overcome and that is exactly what we do. And yes. It is a daily debate in which we convince ourselves that it is worth it. Why? Because we know we must live and we must thrive. It’s the Debate… The Greatest Debate.

Last Is Best…

9/23/2020

YES… YYYEEESSS… YES… It’s our favorite day of the week on any day of the week – “Weleful Wednesday”. Let’s indulge in our authentic energy boost.  We’ll have a few gulps of motivation, a few scoops of fresh perspective, and a few sips of tasty victory. After all it’s been decreed and declared that Faith’s Garden of INspiration is still the #1 most scared place on the web today. We’re definitely in a good place!!!

A little over a week ago I wrote a tweet…
“Sometimes on this journey called LIFE the last truly is the best… The last walk on the beach before bed, the last bowl of ice cream, the last prayer answered by God, the last loving hand that you held, the last sweet compliment you gave your child… LAST IS BEST.”
YES. I know many of us have experiences with the first, the second, the third, etc. being the best but for today our focus is on “the Last”. Remember the last “A++” you got on a paper in school? Or how about the last teacher that spoke into your life and declared how awesome you truly were and it fueled your academic fire? Let’s not even mention the last game of Tetherball, handball, or kickball you played and it was just so much fun that you still talk about it at the class reunions. And what about the last big project that you did and everyone was so amazed by your stellar creativity? Then there’s the last act of kindness that brought the recipient to tears because they had given up on life but you allowed yourself to yield to the Holy Spirit and then God gave the increase. Or the last scripture that you read and the revelation was unlike any other. Not to mention the last trip you took along the coast with the breeze cool and crisp and the sunset just picture perfect. And how about the last time you promised yourself that you would no longer look back, no longer be frustrated, no longer be in bondage and now you’re moving forward with intrinsic joy and an unbreakable shield of infinite freedom. “Last is Best...”
Then there’s the last time you held your baby before they started to walk on their own. The last time you walked your child to school and told ‘em how proud of them you were before they started walking with their friends. The last endearing conversation you had with your oldest before they got married and started their own family. And how about the last day of high school: all the goodbyes, all the expressions of friendship, and all the jokes about the dorky memories from the past few years. Or the last dance to your favorite song at your college buddy’s retirement party. Not to mention the last time you received an unexpected check in the mail or the last big discount you received on services rendered or the last time you found that tightly folded $ dollar bill deep in the corner of the pocket of the pants you wore and washed a few times already. Or the last time you gave yourself a break and just vegged out while enjoying a good book, a good movie, a few good snacks, a good conversation, or a good documentary. So you see “Last is Best…”

Payroll Deductions…  Life Deductions... It's Just a Natural Part of Life

9/16/2020

Yes... Yes... Yes… It’s time for us to go “soil” searching in Faith’s Garden of INspiration. That’s right it’s your “Weleful Wednesday” boost – the best day of the week on any day of the week. You see, we are in an opportune time to experience a refreshing blog sprouting in wisdom, ripe in optimism, and blooming in personal growth.  So fuel up and get your serving today. After all it is the #1 most sacred place on the web today!!!

About two months ago I found myself pondering on “Payroll Deductions” – I mean there is just so much that has to be covered – taxes, health benefits, Social Security, savings account, retirement, etc. Even if you’re an entrepreneur, with your own business, you may not have the exact same deductions yet there are items that must be accounted for no matter what. I never doubted nor do I question that each one holds a certain level of validity yet… Wow… they hit hard. Now, I cannot begin to tell you why my mind went there or why I choose to ponder so long on this concept of “deductions”. However; what I do know is that on this journey called LIFE we experience deductions on a variety of levels for a variety of reasons in variety of ways. Think about it. The loss of a loved one is a major deduction to what we once viewed as our awesome status quo yet it’s a part of life. I mean we have people in our lives that we love to the moon and back and around again and they become such a major part of our much appreciated and much valued routine and then in a blink of an eye they’re gone. As a child we lose our baby teeth so we can get our permanent teeth. For some children the excitement of the “tooth fairy” leaving something under the pillow is worth the pain of that tooth coming out or even being pulled out but for other children they could care less because that pain is not what they would volunteer to endure. Then as pre-teens/teens we tend to lose our “baby” faces, “baby” voices, and “baby” physiques and while for many this can be extremely exciting for some it is straight h*$$. Remember, our hormones change and we lose that sweet innocence of bliss and corky silliness. Deductions – It’s just a natural part of life.
Some of us may even experience a divorce which for many could mean a deduction in stress but for others it may mean a deduction of the heart or even the soul. As we age we experience a deduction in how we are able to process information (maybe we have to hear things three times before we actually get it instead of once), in how our bodies are not able to process certain foods as quickly and how we may have to do longer/harder workouts, in how we plan our days so we’re back home by a certain time. Maybe a 30 year friendship is severed for any given reason and that connection no longer exists. Maybe there’s some relocation from a residence, neighborhood or community that you resided in since childhood and while the new residence is full of greater potential that deduction of familiarity causes a form of anxiety.  These deductions change our lives and change our perspective yet we remain forever growing, forever learning, and forever victorious… Deductions - It’s just a natural part of life.

Now, be sure to share your thoughts about “Deductions” in the comment section below and remember to hit the “LIKE” button too.

What Are the True Essentials???

9/9/2020

Hello and welcome back to the #1 most sacred place on the web today – Faith’s Garden of INspiration. No matter what; it yet remains the best day of the week on any day of the week. The garden offers a refreshing serving of optimism, wisdom, and a fresh squeezed perspective – with just the right amount of organic flavor and natural blends for sweet, sweet victory.
Just last week I did a clip on my FB page titled “The True Essentials” and you better know it I am taking a brief moment to expound on that concept here in the garden. I know as we continue to do our weekly shopping our main focus has been on the essentials – bread, water, fresh veggies, fresh fruits, soap, bathroom tissue, bleach, etc. – and that’s understandable at any time. The question I ask us all is; “What other essentials are we making sure we keep and hold on to during these times?” Are we keeping our prayer life a priority, are we being a strong support system to those in need, are we getting the proper rest, are we eating nutritious meals, healthy snacks – at least most of the time, are we exercising, are we checking in on family members, are we telling and showing our children how much we love them while providing structure and tough love, are we actively looking for ways to improve ourselves and lift others up too? Are we holding on to our faith, are we continuing to trust and believe God no matter what, are we pursuing our next level of #GREATERNESS?
Are we being mindful to declutter and share some of what we have, are we remembering the significance of our words and the power they carry, are we continuing to practice purposeful acts of kindness, are we checking in on our neighbors, are we using good-manners even when times are tough and rough and even unbelievable? Are we prepared for natural disasters (earthquake, power outages, tornadoes, storms, etc.), are we remembering that WE ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR, are we reminding others that they have purpose and them reaching their destiny is directly connected to someone else’s survival? Are we allowing ourselves moments to enjoy life, to smell the roses, to be swept away by the cool breeze of the night? Are we sharing smiles, are we providing sound advice, are we using our voices to bring about positive permanent change through ending racism on all levels in all arenas of life? Essentials… Essentials… Essentials… Just a few of the “True Essentials”
