WOW… The first Wednesday of September 2020 – absolutely incredible!!! And what a way to kick off the last four months of the year – here in Faith’s Garden of INspiration for our “Weleful Wednesday” boost. It is yet the #1 place to rejuvenate, reformulate, and recuperate – the best day of the week on any given day of the week. So, let’s enjoy a delicious organic serving of insight, hindsight, and foresight.
Just a few days ago I ran to Target to purchase a box of Tylenol Rapid Release and I just so happened to glance over at the Advil Pain Relief. As I walked to the register I began to ponder on; what’s really the difference between the two and I suppose the main difference is the individuals’ preference and what works best for them. Yet, as I was driving home I just couldn’t let the thought go and I narrowed it down to: pain relief versus rapid release. Now, I’m wondering what’s the difference between those two? Once again, as I’m driving along the road and intentionally pacing along at a much slower pace than usual to get caught by the red lights, the thought continued to marinate in my brain cells. Of course I get home and immediately I became “busy” with the evening’s agenda; reviewing notes for the next days’ work, dinner, news, catching up with family, etc. thus I didn’t think about it any longer. I wake the next morning and at some point, as I’m working and going about the normal routine, I specifically honed in on the Tylenol I purchased the night before. You guessed it. Now, my mind is juggling work and this much more narrowed concept of: relief vs release. And just like that… it hit me. On this journey called LIFE we will experience, be a witness to, and even directly partake in at least one monumental historical event where the difference between relief vs release will shed light on some very profound things. You see relief is what we experience when an end to a problem or a struggle has been developed and there is a guaranteed end to it, at least at that moment. And release is what we experience when we are freed from something that has held us back, that has had us caged, bound, stressed out, in deep worry, in discomfort, or just plain old holding on to unhealthy energy in our system. Think about it we are typically relieved when our Internet has been restored, when we’ve met with the principal and our children have been allowed to return back to school, when we go to therapy and we finally understand that it was “that” experience that had been causing us to flip out, wig out, and maybe even trip out. Relief is a direct result of when we’ve studied all semester long and we passed the final exam, when the team developed and implemented a strategy that not only leveled off sales but increased sales by 50%, and when God answers our prayers there is relief. On the other hand we experience a sense of release when the overdue mortgage has been paid and the projections for the next few months, maybe even next few years are extremely promising. Release is when we’ve had an extremely long day and that hour and a half at the gym feels like a trip to the Bahamas or when we finally have a breakthrough because our fasting, praying, and yielding to God has brought us into a place of deliverance from an issue or a matter that we struggled with. It’s kind of like what’s going on now in this world – we experienced relief when the extension to “not” pay rent was granted, when the beaches opened up during the hottest days of summer, when a bill passed that would grant small businesses loans to expand and branch out. And we experienced a false sense of release when some businesses began to open back up and now we could visit a few more places only to have them shut back down. We experience release when the police have barricaded the protest for no known reason to only move back and allow the protesters to continue on. And based on what we know, we definitely continue to experience a false sense of release from when we were granted some form, some version, some twisted up concept of “freedom and equality” back in 1865. So, I ask you … What are your experiences with relief and release? Be sure to share in the comment section below and also hit the “LIKE” button.
